About the author

Although I already gained first experience with computer programming as a young teenager in the mid of the 80ies (BASIC), a resumption of programming with far more sophisticated techniques started in the late 90ies when I became a student assistant in a lab for visual psychophysics: Techniques like C++, OpenGL, or Mathematica belong to the common tools in order to establish experiments and evaluate the results in this research area.

After my diploma I worked for about 6 years as a research fellow in the same lab where I also received a Ph.D. with a doctoral thesis in the field of visual perception. During this time I published some scientific articles and also acted as a reviewer for a scientific journal.

Later on, I started focusing on web programming using techniques like PHP, JavaScript, or ActionScript—which was actually a quite smooth transition since their basic structures are generally the same as in other typical programming languages.
